Sunday I got back from Sibiu. I wanted to see that city for over a year and now the opportunity appeared. We left at about 5.30 from Bucharest and our first stop was Breaza. A nice and quiet place. There's a room there, dark and tranquil with rolling shutters, which is just they way I would have made it if it were mine. It was the deepest and restful sleep in a looong time. I think that's why we overslept... for 3hours. Due to this we arrived at Sibiu at 5pm and our cultural program was cut short. But the road was fun. Every 10 km there would be a portion of road under construction and the traffic was awfull. He drove and drove and drove... Poor guy! He didn't complain at all. If I were in his shoes I would have stop the car and start walking 'till I got there ('cause these socks are made for walkin' pam-pa-pam). When we got there we found a cozy, yellow hotel and started our mini cultural adventure. We only had time for The Brukenthal Palace because we arrived late and all the others museums were closing. But we found nice things there.The Brukenthal Palace is one of the most remarkable monuments in late baroque style in Romania. It was erected between 1778-1788 as an official residence for Samuel Von Brukenthal and as a shelter for his collections ( Books, manuscrips, engravings, paintings, paintings, paintings, paintings, cute guy watching paintings, gold objects). The Baroque halls -the old reception and music rooms of the Palace - on the first floor preserve the original canvas and silk wall, the Rococo and Neo-classical white stoves and 18th century Transylvanian marquetry furniture.
Afterwards we went to 3 bars to meet with some friends and had a few drinks. Boy,do those people have fun. It's way better than Bv where every bar&club closes at 11pm *rolling eyes* . Overall 'twas quite nice, not as nice as I wanted but I enjoyed it and hope You did too. If not just smile politely like I often do. :p
